SYNOPSIS
Following Nisha, Faris & Saad’s arrival at the borders, the tension between Seis and the Aklum are rising higher than ever.
When an opportunity arises for Saad to journey faraway in search of his people, the three friends part ways. Seizing every possibility to secure the border in the wake of Saad’s departure, Faris focuses on building a potential army with his Outer Movement magic, while Nisha pushes the boundaries of her Inner Movement just the same.
In the face of a deadly war, the young warriors must bring forth all their courage, magic & faith to change the fate of their country.
REVIEW
As the second installment in the Nisha trilogy, Sacred Rituals certainly gave me a lot to love & look forward to in the finale!
The character development of Ged was thoroughly fascinating. Thrust onto a voyage with the King & Saad, he was able to shed the arrogant & spoiled aspects of his solidly established persona from the first book. For such a drastic change in character to occur in a rather short story, without seeming rushed nor forced—I am amazed at how genuinely relatable the transformation turned out.
On the other hand, Saad’s adventure to retrace his ancestral roots was deeply haunting & heartbreaking, as he uncovered the truth behind his mysterious arrival at Seis as a baby. As for the magic system, the evolvement of Nisha’s Inner Movement as she conquered the doubt in herself was breathtaking, even more so the glimpse into Faris’ childhood memories alongside the enchanting tale of the Gatum Forest.
Elaborate details of the world building, history, character background that were comparably lacking in the first book were given & thoroughly explored, making the story a lot more exciting & satisfying! I very much look forward to reading the finale—especially after THAT cliffhanger!!!
